In September 2024 William's necktie arrived back on the islands, hand delivered by non other than Astronaut Andreas Mogensen. After a long journey into space and spending over six months circumventing the world an insurmountable amount of times onboard the International Space Station, the tie, is safely back on display in Williamshús.
We were honoured to host a small soiree where the tie was handed back to Zacharias Heinesen and placed in a glass display case by the austronaut himself.
The tie is handmade, of Faroese wool and crafted by Marjun Horsdal and is now part of historic event that Williamshús is proud to played it's part in.
We would like to thank Ole Knudsen, the European Space Agency for the opportunity to send William Heinesen into space and a huge thank you to Andreas Mogensen, we wish him the best in his future endeavours.
